Lindsay and Jean Cox* have been clients for almost 20 years. These retirees faithfully make the trip from Molong every year to drop off their tax returns and to have a chat. It’s always a pleasure to talk to clients that have such a strong relationship with the Firm and on whose word we have earned many referrals over the years.
This year we were able to give some good news to Lindsay and Jean. Due to the changes in super, Jean was no longer required to lodge a tax return. And it was only necessary for Lindsay to complete a Refund of Franking Credits form. Our clients were delighted at the reduced compliance and lower fee and by the fact it was all done on the spot.
After examining their investments and income levels, we referred Lindsay and Jean to our Financial Services team. They did a brilliant job, assessing eligibility for the Age Pension, taking the client to Centrelink and taking over as Financial Advisors. The client was impressed by how MFS took care of all the details and by the additional income they now enjoy.
We calculated that they would receive around $400 per fortnight from a combined age pension. We then discussed the process of claiming the age pension and agreed to meet them in Orange to complete the claim and accompany them to Centrelink for the lodgement.
In addition to meeting their initial Centrelink needs we also discussed what ongoing services they may require. It was arranged to provide them with their own personal financial planner and we now meet regularly.
Our goal?
To provide a more comfortable retirement for Lindsay and Jean.
The Result:
The Firm has retained a grateful client from a situation where they could have quite easily dropped off the radar as, "No Longer Necessary To Lodge".
