Morse stories - Integrity

About us | Morse stories | Our people | Our heritage

When what people think, say, promise, and do all coincide, they have integrity. They have unshakable character. This is the Morse Group way.

Recently our auditors were invited to sponsor a client’s golf day, which coincided with the timing of the client’s tender process. As auditors we are conscious of the importance of ‘arms length’ independence and we felt our participation may have been perceived as influencing the tender process. So, as much as we’d have enjoyed a round of golf with our client, we declined. But we’ll make it up to them next year now that we have been reappointed as their auditor.

We also take firm positions in potential conflicts of interest situations. Recently, when one of our clients was selling a business, the buyer asked whether we could also act for them given our knowledge of the business. Rather than being tempted by the additional fee opportunity, we declined to act due to our commitment to our existing client. In this way any potential conflict of interest was avoided.
